Obituary for
Charles R. "Charlie" Magnotta
Charles Magnotta died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on November 22, 2017 at age 81. He was born in White Plains, NY to Margaret and Rocco Magnotta, the youngest of 11 children. He graduated from White Plains High School in 1954. On September 7, 1958 he married the love of his life, Marie DelGrande at Immaculate Heart of Mary church in Scarsdale, NY. After high school, Charlie worked at Milk Maid Ice Cream Co., and B'Altman Department Store. For most of his career he was the Northeast credit manager at Nestle for over 30 years. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed playing cards, telling jokes and was always the life of the party. He was witty, funny and had a knack for making anyone he met, feel like an old friend. Charlie loved telling stories about growing up on Davis Ave with his 10 siblings, where there was always an abundance of love and laughter. He was fiercely protective of his family and loved them deeply. Charlie looked forward to gathering with his extended family twice a year at the Magnotta Family Christmas Party and Annual Family Picnic. He was an avid Yankees and Giants fan. Charlie was a member of the West Harrison Senior Center. He was a longtime communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church, where for many years, volunteered his time and talent co-chairing the annual Festa and serving as Parish Council Chairman.
Charlie was married to Marie for 59 years. She pre-deceased him on October 1, 2017.
He is survived by his loving children, Charles (Donna) Magnotta, Phyllis (Randy) Sauer and adored grandchildren, Michelle, Erica, Eve and Jack. He is also survived by his treasured sisters, Josephine Montemurro, Margaret Magnotta and Edith (Peter) Zuzolo, his cherished cousin, Angie Troiano, and his loving in-laws, Rose, Angie and Mary Magnotta, Angelina (Joe) Russo, Thomas (Eleanor) DelGrande and Dominick DelGrande.
He is pre-deceased by his much loved brothers, Leo, Rocco, John, Alfonso & George Magnotta and adored sisters Columbia Sposato and Lillian Viscomi.
Visitation is Monday 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial is Tuesday 10AM at St. Anthony of Padua church with entombment to follow at Ferncliff Mausoleum.
