Childhood Memories
How could I ever forget the wonderful days of our youth, usually Saturdays that I would come to your house on 7 Fairview Avenue, WHite Plains. It was wonderful to have some of your mother’s "Aunt Jpsephine" delicious home baked bread. What a wonderful aroma and delicious taste!! Your brother Anthony "Tony" used to beat his eggs while listening to Martin Block’s “Make Believe Ballroom.” Also recall the colored posters of baseball players from the Daily News newspaper on the walls down stairs where Alfred had his piano.
We usually played in the empty lot next to the Nat Arone house, but I see that it is no longer an empty lot but filled with houses!! Recall the house next to yours was the Striani house and your friend Sonny Popp was further down on your side. Do not remember the name of the house on the other side of yours "Gennaro?'. Also recall the large house on the corner was owned by a black family, think they were related to Genral Colin Powell.
I found a couple of photos that you might like. The first was taken when I must have had my first communion. Think I must have been about 5 or 6 years old. It was taken by the Kensico Dam with you, cousins Vincet "Vinny" and Theresa "Terry" Castaldo and my sister Eleanor Zuzolo Del Grande.
